Coaches Poirier and Wilcox made some adjustments to the lines and this paid off early in the game. Slovakian forward Lukas Szabo (3.18) shot through traffic to open his account for the season and within a minute the lead was quickly doubled by Kieran Papps (4.16). Coventry continued to dominate early, and Rhys McWilliams added a third even strength goal at 8.43. The period ended with continued pressure from the away side, out shooting the hosts 18-6.Blaze started the second period slowly but continued to press the home side all over the ice. Three goals in quick succession put the game beyond Kinston’s reach. Liam Walker picked up his first senior goal (28.20) when he reaped the rewards of crashing the net and Lukas Szabo (28.57) bagged a brace with a backhand into the roof of the goal. Rhys McWilliams also scored his second of the night (29.14) giving Coventry a 6-0 lead at the halfway mark. Alex Jones sought redemption following a hit on team mate Ryan Selwood that went unpunished by the officials. Both he and the Kingston player received roughing penalties timed at 30.06. The home side had some opportunities to get on the scoreboard, but Mark Hartley between the pipes was up to the task. The period finished 6-0. Kingston changed their netminder for the third period and he was immediately tested by the Blaze forward lines, who couldn’t add to their tally. Kingston started the period hard, but couldn’t get anything for their efforts. It wasn’t until Blaze were a man short after Rikki Bryniarski was called for an accidental high stick incident, which saw him sitting a 5+Game penalty, that Kingston finally ruined Hartley’s shutout (47.16). They added a second at 48.20, both close range efforts on the PP. Joe Henry finally added a goal to his 2 assists at 53.11, to make the score 7-2. Frustration set in for the Jets, and a Kingston player dropped the gloves with Scott Mulholland, who came out on top. An impressive performance by the ENL Blaze was finally rounded off with 45seconds to go, Joe Henry picked up his second of the night, finishing the game 8-2.
