Allen bolsters blue-line

The Genting Casino Coventry Blaze are pleased to confirm the addition of Canadian defenceman Carter Allen for the remainder of the 2023/24 Elite League season.  

Allen, 27, joins the club following two seasons in the ECHL with the South Carolina Stingrays and Cincinnati Cyclones.  

In 90 ECHL games, the 6’0 stay-at-home blue liner had 13 points (one goal, 12 assists), building a reputation as a reliable and combative player. 

Prior to turning professional, the native of London, Ontario played three years of college hockey at SUNY-Oswego, tallying 22 points (4 goals, 18 assists) in 81 games. 

Head Coach Danny Stewart said, “Carter is very steady guy that will compliment what we have already. He plays a very physical game, puts his body on the line and is tough to play against. He’s another guy that we can use on the penalty kill and it was important for us to add some depth there. He will block shots, be heavy on guys, and play a simple game.”

Allen will wear #4 for the Blaze is set to make his debut this weekend.

Blaze will face Cardiff Devils in the Challenge Cup at Vindico Arena on Saturday (7pm) before the two meet again on Sunday at Skydome Arena on Sunday (5.30pm).
