This policy explains what we do with your personal information when you use the Coventry Blaze website, why we do it, and what rights you have. We have tried to write it in plain English rather than legal language.

2. What this policy covers
This policy covers the Coventry Blaze website at coventryblaze.co.uk.
It does not cover other companies' websites and services, even where we link to them or where their content appears on our pages. Ticketing, merchandise, social media and video platforms each have their own privacy policies, and we would encourage you to read them. Section 8 explains where our site connects to services like these.
3. The information we collect, and why
When you contact us through the website
Our contact form asks for your name, your email address and your message. We use these to read your enquiry and to reply to you.
Messages sent through the form are emailed to the club office. They are not stored in a database on the website.
The legal basis for this is our legitimate interests: if you write to us with a question, we need your details in order to answer it. You are not obliged to use the form, and you can email or telephone the club instead.
When you sign up to Blaze Mail
If you sign up to our email newsletter, we ask for your email address and, optionally, your first and last name. We also record which page you signed up from, which tells us what people find useful.
We use these details to send you club news, ticket information and offers by email.
The legal basis for this is your consent. You give it by ticking the box on the signup form, and you can withdraw it at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any email we send you, or by emailing us. Withdrawing your consent does not affect emails we have already sent.
Information collected automatically
Like almost every website, our web server keeps a short technical record of the requests it receives. This includes your IP address, the pages you asked for, the date and time, and basic information about your browser.
We use these records to keep the site running, to diagnose faults and to protect the site against attacks and abuse. The legal basis is our legitimate interests in keeping the website secure and working properly. We do not use these records to build a profile of you or to advertise to you.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
A cookie is a small file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. Some cookies are needed to make a website work at all. Others measure how the site is being used, or help us advertise.
We put cookies into three groups. Only the first group is set automatically. Nothing in the analytics or advertising groups is set until you have agreed to it.
How you choose
The first time you visit, a banner asks what you are happy with. You can accept everything, reject everything, or choose group by group. Rejecting is as quick as accepting, and the site works normally either way.
You can change your mind whenever you like using the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page.
If you turn a group off, we stop using those cookies and delete the ones we are able to delete. Some cookies belonging to the companies named below sit on their own websites rather than ours, and those you can clear through your browser.
We keep a record of what you chose and when, so we can honour it and show we asked. If we add a new tag to the site, we will ask you again rather than assume your previous answer covers it.
Group 1: strictly necessary
These make the website work and keep it secure. We are permitted to set them without asking, because without them the site you have asked for cannot be delivered. They cannot be turned off.

Group 2: analytics
These tell us how people use the site, which pages are read, and where people get stuck. We use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity. Clarity also records a replay of how a page was used, and builds heat maps showing where people click and how far they scroll.
These recordings capture how you moved around the page. They do not capture what you type into forms.

Group 3: advertising
These let us show Coventry Blaze adverts to people who have visited the site, and let us see whether an advert led to a ticket sale. We use Google Ads and Meta, which is Facebook and Instagram.

We also use Google Tag Manager to load the tags above. Tag Manager does not set any cookies of its own, and it does not load anything from group 2 or group 3 until you have agreed.
Blocking cookies through your browser settings is always open to you as well. Blocking the strictly necessary group will stop parts of the site working, including the contact and newsletter forms.
5. Embedded videos
Some pages include videos hosted on YouTube. We use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, which means your viewing of a video on our site is not used to personalise your YouTube experience or the advertising you are shown elsewhere.
YouTube is a Google service. When a page containing a video loads, your device connects to Google's servers in order to fetch the video, and Google receives your IP address as part of that. If you play a video, Google may store information on your device relating to playback. This happens under Google's own privacy policy rather than ours.
6. How long we keep your information

7. Keeping your information safe
Our website is hosted on servers located in London, United Kingdom. Access to the website's administration area is restricted to club and agency staff who need it, and is protected by individual accounts and passwords. Information sent between your browser and our website is encrypted.
8. Who we share your information with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing purposes.
We share it only with the suppliers who help us run the club and the website, and only so far as they need it to provide their service to us:

We will also disclose information where we are required to by law, for example in response to a court order, or where it is necessary to protect the rights or safety of the club, our supporters or others.
9. Sending information outside the United Kingdom
Four of the suppliers listed above are based in the United States: Mailchimp, Google, Microsoft and Meta. Information shared with them is transferred there.
Where personal information leaves the United Kingdom, the law requires that it remains protected to the same standard. For these transfers we rely on the safeguards approved for that purpose under UK data protection law, which are contractual commitments the supplier gives about how the information will be handled. You can ask us for more detail about these using the contact details in section 1.
10. Children
Our website is aimed at ice hockey supporters generally and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the website. If you believe a child has given us their details, please contact us and we will remove them.
11. Automated decision-making
We do not make any decision about you by purely automated means that has a legal or similarly significant effect. Where you have agreed to advertising cookies, you are placed into advertising audiences based on the pages you visited, so that we can show you our adverts. You can leave those audiences at any time by withdrawing your consent using the Cookie settings link in the footer.
12. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the following rights. They are free to use, and we will respond within one month.
- To be told what we hold. You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you and an explanation of what we do with it.
- To have mistakes corrected. If anything we hold about you is wrong or incomplete, you can ask us to put it right.
- To have it deleted. You can ask us to delete your personal information where we no longer have a good reason to keep it.
- To restrict what we do with it. You can ask us to pause our use of your information while a question about it is resolved.
- To object. Where we rely on our legitimate interests, you can object and we must stop unless we have compelling grounds to continue. Where we use your information for direct marketing, you can object at any time and we must stop.
- To take it elsewhere. Where you gave us information electronically and we use it with your consent, you can ask for it in a portable format.
- To withdraw consent. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. For our newsletter, use the unsubscribe link in any email. For cookies, use the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page.
To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. We may need to confirm who you are before we act, so that we do not disclose your information to someone else.
13. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, please tell us first so we have the chance to put it right.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's independent regulator for data protection. Complaining to us first does not affect that right.

14. Changes to this policy
We review this policy from time to time and will update it whenever what we do with your information changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. Where a change is significant, such as introducing analytics or advertising cookies, we will make that clear on the website rather than relying on you to notice.
