Bearman returns for second season

The DPD Coventry Blaze are pleased to confirm the re-signing of British goaltender Joel Bearman for the 2026/27 Motorpoint Elite League season.

Bearman, 20, turned professional with the Blaze last season after progressing through the club’s junior pathway. He made his senior debut for Coventry in March 2026, featuring on the road against the Guildford Flames.

Bearman began his hockey journey with the Solihull Barons at under-15 level before joining the Blaze Academy. He progressed through every junior age group and established himself as one of the academy’s standout performers, particularly during the 2023/24 campaign, when he posted an outstanding .957 save percentage across 14 appearances to help the U18 side secure the North Division 2 league title.

Ahead of his first professional season with the Blaze, Bearman gained valuable experience during the 2024/25 campaign while serving as backup netminder for the Fife Flyers, giving him his first exposure to the Elite League environment.

After making his Blaze debut last season, Bearman now returns for the 2026/27 campaign as he continues his development within the club’s goaltending group.
