The following year, he signed with the Tampa Bay Lightning, spending two seasons with their affiliates, the Syracuse Crunch (AHL) and Orlando Solar Bears (ECHL).

Before turning professional, Mismash played four seasons of NCAA hockey at the University of North Dakota (2017–2021), where he recorded 71 points (32 goals, 39 assists) in 117 games. Head Coach Kevin Moore said, “We are extremely excited to have Grant back. This past season, he was one of the most dynamic playmakers in the league and will anchor our offense in 2026/27. His edgework, ability to make plays in tight spaces, and shooting ability fit exactly with how we want to play with the puck. Grant is a selfless and respected teammate and a big part of our locker room.”
