The Genting Casino Coventry Blaze can confirm that talented British forward Brynley Capps will spend the 2025/26 season in North America.
Capps, 17, signed a three-year deal with the Blaze last summer. While he continues his development abroad, the club will retain his rights and he remains part of the organisation. We fully support Brynley in this exciting opportunity to take the next step in his hockey career.

Standing at 6’3″, Capps is widely regarded as one of the most promising young players in the country. He made a strong impression during his debut Elite League campaign, appearing in 52 games for the Blaze over 2024/25, registering his first professional point in November.
On the international stage, Capps captained Great Britain’s Under-18 team to a silver medal at the IIHF World Championship Division II and was also called up to the Under-20 national team, an impressive feat for a player of his age. In both tournaments, he recorded three points (two goals, one assist) in five games.

A year earlier, at the 2024 U18 World Championship Division II, Capps finished as the tournament’s top scorer with 11 points (six goals, five assists) in five games, setting a new GB U18 record at that level and was named Forward of the Tournament.
In 2023/24, Capps split his season between the Romford Buccaneers (NIHL 1) and Raiders IHC (NIHL National). With the Buccaneers, he put up 43 goals and 27 assists in just 29 regular season and playoff games, earning Coach’s Player of the Year and Supporters’ Player of the Year awards. He also made 27 appearances for the Raiders, contributing seven points (four goals, three assists).
Capps is a graduate of the Raiders junior system, where he developed a reputation for consistent offensive production at every level.
Head Coach and Director of Hockey Kevin Moore said, “When we signed Brynley, it was with a clear development plan in mind – one that would help him improve year after year. His first season was a strong one in terms of growth. His professionalism and mindset both took steps forward, and on the ice, he made noticeable progress in his defensive awareness and play along the boards.
“Sending Bryn out on loan will give him the opportunity to take another step by competing against players closer to his age. Striking the balance between being challenged and playing with confidence is crucial for a young player, and this move offers him the chance to do both in a strong development environment. We’ll remain closely involved in his progress and continue supporting his development while he’s away.”
The club looks forward to following his progress as he takes on this new challenge in North America.
