Clements back for season 12

The Genting Casino Coventry Blaze are pleased to confirm the return of British defenceman David Clements for his 12th Elite League season in 2026/27.

Now ranked among the top five for all-time appearances in club history, the 31-year-old has played 606 times for his hometown club, contributing 131 points (28 goals, 103 assists) from the blue line.

A respected leader both on and off the ice, Clements was named Associate Captain ahead of the 2022/23 campaign and has continued to lead by example ever since. His outstanding contribution to the organisation was recognised with a well-deserved testimonial season in 2024/25.

Head Coach Kevin Moore said: “I couldn’t be happier that David will be back for year 12 in Blaze blue. He is a consummate teammate who is the glue of our locker room. On the ice, he has been a steady presence for our group, and we look forward to him having another great season.”

On the international stage, Clements has proudly represented the Great Britain national ice hockey team at every level. His résumé includes three appearances at the IIHF World Championship, with a fourth upcoming as Great Britain travel to Switzerland this month to compete in the 2026 tournament. He also won a gold medal at the Division I Group A tournament in 2024/25.

Prior to turning professional, Clements developed his game during three standout seasons with the Ogden Mustangs (WSHL), where he served as captain and became the franchise’s all-time leading defenceman in points.

Clements added: “I want to win a trophy in Coventry. I’m excited for what’s ahead and to see all you fans in September!”
