The DPD Coventry Blaze are thrilled to announce the signing of Canadian goaltender Evan Fitzpatrick for the 2026/27 Motorpoint Elite League season.
Fitzpatrick, 28, joins the Blaze following a season in Germany’s DEL with the Nürnberg Ice Tigers, where he made 23 appearances after impressing with EHC München at the end of the 2024/25 campaign.
The 2024/25 season began in Slovakia with HK 32 Liptovský Mikuláš, marking his first experience of European hockey. Before making the move overseas, the 6’2″ netminder enjoyed a successful career in the ECHL and AHL.
Across 102 ECHL regular season appearances, Fitzpatrick posted a .901 save-percentage and a 2.84 goals-against average. He also featured in 13 Kelly Cup Playoff games and has 14 games of AHL experience, recording a .902 save percentage and a 2.58 goals-against average.
Fitzpatrick also enjoyed an outstanding junior career. He backstopped the Acadie-Bathurst Titan to both the QMJHL Championship and the CHL Memorial Cup title in 2018, posting a stellar .925 save percentage and 2.10 goals-against average during the playoffs. His performances earned him QMJHL All-Rookie Team honours in 2014/15, before he was selected to compete in the CHL Top Prospects Game in 2015/16.
His impressive junior form also attracted NHL attention. Fitzpatrick was selected by the St. Louis Blues in the second round (59th overall) of the 2016 NHL Draft and was twice called up to serve as the club’s backup goaltender. He later signed with the Florida Panthers organisation in 2022, adding further professional experience before embarking on his European career.

He reads the play well, tracks pucks at a high level and brings a veteran presence to our goalie group. He is also a great teammate and a detail-oriented professional who works incredibly hard. We are excited to have Evan on board in Coventry for this season.”
Fitzpatrick will wear #50 for the Blaze.
