After a strong sophomore campaign, British defenceman Archie Hazeldine is focused on taking the next step in his development as he prepares for the 2025/26 Elite League season.
The 21-year-old returns for the second year of a two-season contract, which he signed last summer.
Hazeldine appeared in 66 Elite League games, contributing 12 points (one goal, 11 assists), and displayed growing confidence and consistency on the Blaze blue line.
“I really enjoyed last year,” Hazeldine said. “Kev gave me an opportunity and I’m excited to take the next step with my development in Coventry. The fans made it a great place to play with their unreal support last season, home and away. I’m excited to be back.”
Standing at 6’3”, Hazeldine brings both size and mobility to the Blaze defence. His second Elite League season saw him take on a larger role under Head Coach Kevin Moore.

Originally joining the Blaze ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, Hazeldine also gained valuable experience that same season with the NIHL’s Telford Tigers. On a two-way deal, he played 30 games and posted an impressive 30 points (five goals, 25 assists), helping the Tigers reach the playoff semi-finals.
Before arriving in Coventry, Hazeldine spent two seasons split between his hometown club, the Nottingham Panthers, and the Leeds Knights. He made 51 Elite League appearances for the Panthers, collecting 10 points (one goal, nine assists). With Leeds, he excelled offensively, registering 44 points (11 goals, 33 assists) in 44 games and helping the Knights secure both a league and playoff title.
Internationally, Hazeldine has represented Great Britain at both U18 and U20 levels, winning a silver and two bronze medals. He was also named a ‘Next Gen’ member ahead of the 2025 World Championship, giving him the opportunity to train alongside the senior national team.
Head Coach Kevin Moore commented, “Archie took a big step in his development this past season. His commitment to the defensive side of the position allowed him to play a more well-rounded game and contribute consistently. I’m happy to have the opportunity to coach Archie for another season and help his growth in the small details of the game.”
