The DPD Coventry Blaze are pleased to confirm that David Clements, Matthew Gleason, Brett Perlini, and Tanner Kaspick have been named assistant captains for the 2026/27 Motorpoint Elite League season.

In his 12th season with the club, 32-year-old Clements has held an assistant captain role since 2022. With more than 600 appearances for the Blaze, he will once again play a key role within the team’s leadership group.

Gleason, 25, has entered a second season with the organisation after enjoying a standout first professional campaign with the Blaze. The forward tied for the team lead in goals with 26 and was named the Adam Calder Forward of the Season.

The American also has previous captaincy experience, having worn an ‘A’ during his senior year at the University of St. Thomas.

Perlini, 36, in his first season with the Blaze, brings a wealth of experience from the Motorpoint Elite League, European competition, and the Great Britain national team.

He enjoyed considerable success last season, helping the Cardiff Devils win the Playoffs, while also lifting the Continental Cup in 2024/25. Perlini has also won several medals on the international stage with Great Britain.

Kaspick, 28, brings extensive experience from both North America and Europe, having played more than 200 AHL games alongside top-level hockey in Italy, Germany, Slovakia, and Sweden. He also has previous leadership experience, having served as captain of the Brandon Wheat Kings in the WHL.

Head Coach Kevin Moore said: "We are incredibly proud to name David Clements, Matt Gleason, Brett Perlini, and Tanner Kaspick as our four assistant captains, forming our captaincy group for this season. Each of these players brings a unique set of leadership qualities, work ethic, and experience that aligns perfectly with the standards we set for our room both on and off the ice."
