Tallberg says bye to Blaze

Following four seasons of outstanding service with the club, the Genting Casino Coventry Blaze can confirm that Captain Kim Tallberg will depart the organisation this summer.

Tallberg, 34, leaves the Blaze having cemented himself as one of the club’s most respected and influential players of the modern era. Across 266 Elite League competition appearances, the Swedish forward registered 171 points, scoring 68 goals and adding 103 assists.

Since arriving in Coventry ahead of the 2021/22 season, Tallberg quickly became a fan favourite through his professionalism, consistency, and leadership qualities. He was appointed Captain ahead of the 2023/24 campaign and in the most recent season led the Blaze to their first Challenge Cup Final appearance in two decades.

Tallberg’s performances and dedication earned widespread recognition during his time with the club. In the 2022/23 season, he completed a clean sweep of the major individual honours, collecting the Coach’s Player, Players’ Player, and Supporters’ Player of the Year awards. At the club’s recent end-of-season awards evening, he was again named Coach’s Player of the Season.

Before joining the Blaze, Tallberg enjoyed a successful career in his native Sweden. He recorded 93 points (48 goals, 45 assists) across 272 appearances in the Allsvenskan, Sweden’s second-tier league, while also posting 168 points (84 goals, 84 assists) in 272 HockeyEttan games.

Everyone at the Genting Casino Coventry Blaze would like to thank Kim for his outstanding contribution to the club over the past four seasons and wish him and his family every success for the future.
