The Genting Casino Coventry Blaze are thrilled to announce that Head Coach Kevin Moore has signed a two-year contract extension with the club.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions during his first season in charge, Moore will also take on the responsibility of Director of Hockey Operations.
Since joining the Blaze, the 36-year-old New Jersey native has become an instrumental figure within the organisation and popular with supporters. Under his leadership, the team has recorded 24 regular season wins, achieving a 0.58 points-percentage, along with five Challenge Cup victories (0.60%) while showcasing a brand of hockey to excite the Skydome faithful.
Working alongside Assistant Coach Zach Vinnell, the Blaze boasts the league’s best powerplay (26.97%) and the second-ranked penalty kill (82.24%).

Moore’s exceptional summer recruitment strategy has also paid dividends, with four Blaze players ranking among the Elite League’s top ten scorers – including Chase Gresock, the league’s leading goal scorer (25), and Mike Regush, who tops the assist charts (32).
Beyond management of the Elite League side, Moore has been deeply involved in the local community, working closely with the junior Blaze academy, delivering training, and fostering player development at the youth level.
Before joining Coventry, Moore served as Assistant Coach of the Nottingham Panthers, where he played a crucial leadership role following the tragic passing of Adam Johnson. His responsibilities extended beyond coaching, as he managed the team’s psychological well-being and served as its public voice during a challenging period.

Prior to Nottingham, Moore was Assistant Coach for the Indy Fuel (ECHL), helping guide the team to a playoff berth in the highly competitive Western Conference while setting a franchise record for wins and points.
Moore’s coaching experience extends to the NCAA, where he served as Director of Hockey Operations for Princeton University Tigers (2021/22). In 2020/21, as Head Coach of the College of St. Scholastica (NCAA III), he led the team to its first playoff win and semi-final appearance in five years. Additionally, his time as Assistant Coach at Adrian College saw the team capture both the NCHA Regular Season title and Tournament championship (2020).
Internationally, Moore was named Assistant Coach for Team USA’s U18 squad in the 2019 Hlinka Gretzky Cup and has been actively involved in USA Hockey’s National Player Development selection camps.
Managing Director Mike Cowley said, “We’re delighted to have secured Kevin as Head Coach for another two years and have expanded his role to include Director of Hockey Operations. Since coming on board, he has brought a new energy and impetus to the club, and we’re eager to build on this momentum. This extension gives Kevin the opportunity to begin shaping his team for next season well in advance – and maybe even enjoy a well-deserved break this summer.”

An excited Kevin Moore commented, “When I was initially hired, I felt like it was a perfect fit and I think it is has proven that as the season has gone on. I’ve loved everything about living and coaching in Coventry. I appreciate our fanbase and how loud the Skydome has been this season. So, I am excited to roll it back and hopefully be here for a long time.”
