The Genting Casino Coventry Blaze suffered their first defeat of pre-season, going down 4-0 to Nottingham Panthers at Motorpoint Arena on Saturday.
Nottingham went ahead 10.52 through defenceman Carl Neill who beat Taran Kozun in the Blaze goal unassisted.
The Panthers heavily outshot their opponents in the first period, and they deservedly made it 2-0 on 16.58 when Brit Jordan Kelsall scored from Westlin Michaud’s pass.
Blaze restored some balance on the shot count in the second, but the Panthers again won the period by a two-goal margin.
Otto Nieminen who has already impressed for Nottingham in pre-season made it 3-0 at 26.25 and things got worse for Coventry when Logan Neilson made it 4-0 at 38.52.
No further goals were scored in the third as the Panthers secured a home victory and netminder Rok Stojanovic a shut-out.
