The Genting Casino Coventry Blaze are excited to announce the signing of Canadian netminder Dershahn Stewart for the 2025/26 Elite League season.
The 25-year-old will turn professional with the Blaze following an outstanding NCAA Division III collegiate career at Adrian College.
In the most recent season, Stewart posted a .910 save percentage and 2.64 goals-against average (GAA) over 26 games, helping the Bulldogs reach the NCHA Harris Cup Final.
His 2023/24 campaign was even more impressive, boasting a .936 save percentage and 1.79 GAA across 29 appearances – form that earned him multiple accolades, including selection to the NCAA III (NCHA) All-Conference Team, NCAA III (AHCA) Second Team All-American, and NCAA III (All-USCHO) Honorable Mention Team.
Stewart was also a two-time NCAA III (NCHA) champion in 2021/22 and 2022/23, and a key part of Adrian’s NCAA III National Championship-winning squad in 2021/22, alongside current Blaze forward Alessio Luciani.
Over his collegiate career, Stewart played in 77 games and finished with a remarkable .920 save percentage and 2.21 GAA – while also serving as an associate captain.
Before joining Adrian, he developed through the GOJHL, where he was a 2017/18 All-Star playing for the LaSalle Vipers, before moving to the OJHL with the Cobourg Cougars.
Stewart will partner returning Canadian netminder Mat Robson, with a British goalie also to be confirmed in due course.
Head Coach Kevin Moore said, “Dershahn is a very athletic young goaltender who never gives up on pucks. He also demonstrates strong gap control in tight situations and on breakaways. Coming from a winning program with a great culture, we’re excited to help him take the next step in his career.”
Dershahn will wear #33 for Blaze in the 2025/26 Elite League season.
