The Genting Casino Coventry Blaze are delighted to announce the signing of experienced Canadian forward Michael “Mike” Pelech for the 2025/26 Elite League season.
The 35-year-old joins from Hungarian side UTE, where he recorded 10 points (4 goals, 6 assists) in 16 regular season games, along with one goal in the playoffs.
Prior to his move to Hungary, Pelech played 75 games with the Glasgow Clan (2023–25), serving as an Associate Captain. During his time in Elite League competition, the 6’3” left-shot forward tallied 49 points (23 goals, 26 assists).

A native of Toronto, Pelech boasts a highly distinguished career in the ECHL, where he is the all-time leader in games played, with 884 regular season appearances, plus 56 playoff games.
Over his 940-game ECHL career, he amassed an impressive 720 points (220 goals, 500 assists), with standout seasons for teams including the Atlanta Gladiators, Utah Grizzlies, and Greenville Swamp Rabbits.
His 2022/23 campaign, the final before moving to the UK, saw him post a remarkable 75 points (18 goals, 57 assists) in 71 games with Atlanta.

Pelech also brings experience from the AHL, having made 35 appearances – mostly with the Manchester Monarchs – collecting 6 points (2 goals, 4 assists).
He was originally selected 156th overall by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2009 NHL Draft, following a standout junior career in the OHL.
Head Coach Kevin Moore said, “Michael is a big, strong centreman who brings a reliable, veteran presence down the middle of the ice. He excels in the faceoff circle and can score gritty goals at the net front. His experience will be important in our team’s success, and we are excited to welcome him to Coventry.”
Pelech will wear #27 for the Blaze during the 2025/26 Elite League season.
