Capps signs full-time deal

The Genting Casino Coventry Blaze are pleased to announce that 18-year-old Brynley Capps will rejoin the club on a full-time basis for the 2026/27 Elite League season.

Last season, Capps spent the year with the Telford Tigers, where he enjoyed an impressive campaign, recording 23 goals and 29 assists for 52 points in 62 NIHL games. He was also named the NIHL All-Star Young Player of the Year.

During his time on a two-way agreement with the Blaze, he also scored his first competitive goal for the club.

Capps is widely regarded as one of the brightest young talents in British ice hockey, following a standout 2024/25 Elite League season with the Blaze and impressive performances on the international stage with Great Britain Under-18s and Under-20s.

At the 2024 IIHF Under-18 Men’s World Championship Division II Group A, Capps finished as the tournament’s leading scorer with 11 points (six goals, five assists) in five games, setting a new GB Under-18 Division II scoring record and earning the Forward of the Tournament award.

More recently, Capps competed at the IIHF Under-20 World Championship Division II Group A, where he recorded five goals and one assist in five games, helping Great Britain secure a silver medal.

He further underlined his rapid development by earning his senior debut for the Great Britain men’s national ice hockey team earlier this year.

In 2023/24, Capps was named both Coach’s Player of the Year and Supporters’ Player of the Year with the Romford Buccaneers (NIHL 1), while also gaining valuable senior experience with the Raiders IHC, registering seven points (four goals, three assists) in 27 appearances at National League level.

A product of the Raiders junior development system, Capps has consistently impressed offensively throughout his junior career and now returns to Coventry ready for the next step in his development.

Head Coach Kevin Moore said: “We are thrilled to have Brynley back full-time this season. He has put in a tremendous amount of work behind the scenes with Tom in Telford, as well as with our staff on and off the ice. We see Brynley developing into a consistent Elite League performer, and we can’t wait to see his summer hard work translate into training camp and beyond.”
