The Genting Casino Coventry Blaze delivered an impressive road performance on Sunday, cruising to a commanding 1-7 victory over the short-benched Fife Flyers.
Coventry set the tone early with hat-trick hero Chase Gresock scoring just 54 seconds into the game, assisted by the ever-creative Mike Regush. They extended their lead midway through the period when Gresock struck again at 15.06, with assists from Regush and David Clements.
Moments later, defenceman Alexander Kuqali found the back of the net at 17.35, assisted by Captain Kim Tallberg and Zach Heintz, closing the first period with a 0-3 lead.
The Blaze continued their dominance in the second period, with Gresock completing his hat-trick at 20.48, assisted by Brandon Alderson and Terrance Amorosa.
Fife Flyers responded with a power-play goal from Michael Cichy at 23.47, but Coventry’s momentum was unshaken.
Nick Seitz capitalised on a power-play opportunity at 33.51, assisted by Gresock and Regush, extending the lead to 1-5 heading into the second intermission.
Coventry’s offensive prowess carried into the final period. Alderson scored at 40.50 with help from Seitz and Gresock. The scoring spree concluded at 46:59 when Grayson Constable found the net, with Jack Hopkins and Seitz providing the assists.
Seitz’s stellar performance for the evening elevated him to joint-third on the league’s points leaderboard with a total of 23.
After Fife’s Ryan Foss was thrown from the game for spearing on 53.29, Brit Will Bray replaced Mat Robson in the Blaze net for the final minutes and he shut the door to seal a dominant 1-7 victory.
