Blaze Overpower Clan

The Genting Casino Coventry Blaze delivered a commanding performance in their penultimate regular season game at Skydome Arena, securing a 6-4 victory over Glasgow Clan.

Having had the Saturday night off, and boosted by the return of Canadian Grayson Constable to the line-up, the home side came out full of energy and dominated from the outset.

Top-scorer Chase Gresock opened the scoring on the powerplay at 4.48 after Tyson McLellan was called for holding the stick.

The Blaze continued to pressure the Glasgow net, with Nick Seitz and Alessio Luciani combining well to test Lucas Brine. Their persistence paid off when Seitz doubled the lead at 18.13, finishing high into the net from Luciani and Brandon Alderson.

Coventry continued to build on their momentum in the second period. Luciani added a third at 22.37 with a pinpoint finish from the left dot, leaving Brine with no chance.

Blaze then struck again at 29.45 as Gresock netted his second of the night and 31st of the regular season, prompting Glasgow to make a change in goal, with Landon Bow replacing Brine.

Despite the Clan’s struggles, Keaton Jameson managed to pull one back at 31.03 with a well-placed shot over Mat Robson.

However, the Blaze responded quickly as Terrance Amorosa restored their four-goal cushion at 34.43, assisted by Jack Hopkins and David Clements.

Glasgow showed resilience in the final period, with Steven Seigo scoring twice (at 48.44 and 58.39) to give the visitors some hope.

Morten Jurgens ensured Coventry stayed in control, netting Blaze’s sixth goal at 54.06 following a well-worked play with assists from Grayson Constable and Amorosa.

Despite the positive result, the evening ended on a concerning note for Coventry as ever present goalie Robson was forced to leave the ice in the final minutes, being replaced by emergency back-up Alfie Jefferis.
