The Genting Casino Coventry Blaze continued their unbeaten start to pre-season with a 4-1 win over Manchester Storm at Skydome Arena on Wednesday.
In the Storm’s first game of pre-season, it was them who took the lead through Captain Cam Critchlow who beat Taran Kozun in Coventry’s goal at 6.06.
That was the way the score remained through 20 minutes as both teams struggled to find a good rhythm in the early going.
Each defence remained tight to begin the second period but at 27.37, Blaze found an equaliser when David Clements’ shot from the blue line went through a crowd of bodies and past Evan Wenninger.
Coventry took the lead at 36.18 through Ian McNulty who converted Danny Kristo’s rebounded shot to make it 2-1.
Blaze’s additional game time together began to show in the third period, and they took a 3-1 lead at 49.05 when Alessio Luciani’s sneaky effort from behind the Storm goal found a way behind Wenninger.
On 53.49 Josh Burnside converted Kobe Roth’s smart pass to wrap up the scoring 4-1.
