Genting Casino Coventry Blaze forward Brynley Capps has been selected for the Great Britain under-20 squad for the 2025 IIHF World Championship Division II, Group A, set to take place in Zagreb, Croatia.
This call-up is a notable achievement for Capps, who, at just 17, remains eligible for the under-18 category. Capps has been a regular presence in the Blaze line-up this season, appearing in 14 Elite League competition games.
Defenseman Billy Thorpe, who is on a two-way contract with the Blaze and Peterborough Phantoms, has also been named to the squad. The tournament will mark Thorpe’s second appearance at the under-20 World Championships, following a bronze-medal finish in 2023/24. He has previously represented Great Britain at two under-18 tournaments.
Blaze Head Coach Kevin Moore commented, “Brynley has worked very hard this season to earn this opportunity. We are extremely happy for him and are excited to see him represent GB as a young member of the U20 team.
“I am also pleased to see that Billy has been chosen for a second time, he is extremely deserving and I can’t wait to tune into the games to see their successes.”
