With support from the Blaze Blue Army, Booster Club and partner Tooling Intelligence, the Genting Casino Coventry Blaze are excited to confirm the return of forward Johnny Curran for the remainder of the 2023/24 Elite League season.
Curran previously spent three seasons with the Blaze before moving to Slovakia to begin the current campaign. His time there was short lived, and he was quickly snapped up by Elite League rivals Belfast Giants where he played 30 times with 11 points (four goals, seven assists).
Now on the move again, the 28-year-old has opted to return to Midlands where he enjoyed significant success after turning professional in 2019/20.
Over three seasons with Coventry, the skilled winger tallied 141 points (52 goals, 89 assists) in 188 Elite League competition games.
Curran’s performances with the Blaze led him to be selected for Team Great Britain in 2023, where in the World Championships Division 1A, he had a goal in five games, helping GB gain promotion to the top division for 2024.
Prior to turning professional with Blaze, Curran was a standout in the Niagara University programme of the NCAA.
All being well with his registration, Curran is in contention to be in the line-up when Blaze travel to Dundee Stars on Saturday and then host the Manchester Storm at Skydome Arena on Sunday with a 5.30pm face-off.

“First of all, thanks to those mentioned for the support that they have given. Without them, we wouldn’t have been able to bring Johnny back as an additional body to our line-up.
“As for Johnny, it’s great to have him back. He had a career year last season and will bring different dynamic to our group.
“His ability to create offense and space for others with his speed is something I feel we lack a bit right now. He’s worn the colours before and knows what it’s like to be a Blaze player through and through.”
