The Fife Flyers recorded a four-point weekend over the Genting Casino Coventry Blaze with a 4-3 victory in Kirkcaldy on Sunday.
Fife were ahead early on their home ice with overtime hero of the night before Colin Shirley beating Blaze’s starter Nolan Kent at 1.09.
David Clements levelled for the Blaze at 5.58 but the Flyers were ahead at the first period break thanks to Lucas Chiodo who finished well in close at 12.40.
The highlight of the night for Blaze came at 29.03 when American forward Kobe Roth successfully converted a Michigan attempt, putting his name forward for goal of the season to make it 2-2.
Johan Eriksson put the home side back ahead 3.14 before the second intermission on a goal that the Blaze unsuccessfully challenged for goalie interference.
Coventry tied the game for a third time with 3.11 to play through Alessio Luciani, but again they couldn’t stay level for long. 18 seconds later, Kyle Osterberg fired the Flyers back into the lead from the far post and it was a lead that they wouldn’t again give up.
