The Genting Casino Coventry Blaze regret to announce that American forward Sam Ruffin has been placed on long-term injured reserve following an injury sustained against the Fife Flyers on 25 January.
Ruffin, who will soon undergo surgery, has appeared in 42 Elite League games this season, contributing 25 points (five goals, 20 assists).
The current campaign marks Ruffin’s first in the Elite League, having joined the Blaze following a season split between the SPHL and ECHL.

A graduate of Adrian College, Ruffin helped the Bulldogs capture three NCHA Championships, as well as the 2021/22 NCAA Division III National Championship.
Everyone at the Club wishes Sam all the very best in his recovery.
Head Coach Kevin Moore commented: “I am truly devastated for Sam, who has been an integral part of our team this year, contributing both at 5v5 and on special teams. Even now, he continues to support the staff and remains an important part of the team. Having known Sam for so long, I am confident that his dedication and attention to detail in rehab will see him come back even stronger.”
