British defenceman Billy Thorpe has accepted a training camp invite from Genting Casino Coventry Blaze Head Coach Kevin Moore and will ice for the club against Milton Keynes Lightning tonight (7.30pm).
Thorpe, 19, is part of the Peterborough Phantoms (NIHL) organisation where last season he contributed 12 points (two goals, 10 assists) in 51 regular season games and had an assist in eight playoff appearances, a run which saw the Phantoms lift the trophy.
It was Thorpe’s fourth season with his home-town club, during which he has played 176 total games with two goals and 17 assists and lifted the NIHL Cup in 2022/23.
A junior of the Peterborough system, Thorpe has earnt international honours representing Great Britain at both under-18 and under 20 level.
Moore commented, “Billy is a very steady young defenceman with good defensive habits. He has a lot of potential and has been doing a great job this week at practice. I am excited to give Billy this opportunity and aid in his development.”
Thorpe will wear #52 for the Blaze.
