Pride 2024

To celebrate inclusivity and diversity in our sport, the Genting Casino Coventry Blaze players will wear special jerseys designed by Five-on-3 in our two games taking place during the Elite League’s annual Pride week.

vs. Belfast Giants | Saturday 27th January (7pm) | SSE Arena

vs. Glasgow Clan Sunday 28th January (5.30pm) | Skydome Arena

Each game worn jersey (both black and white) can be purchased for £150 and collected from the FanHub on 28th January vs. Glasgow.

The away (white) jerseys can be collected from doors open (4.30pm) and the home jerseys (black) after the game.

The home jersey of #16 Kim Tallberg will be the shirt off the back raffle prize on the night of the game and #41 Johnny Curran’s away jersey will be the prize in the online Booster Club raffle and so will not be available for purchase.

ALL PRIDE JERSEYS ARE NOW SOLD

The Blaze will make a donation to Coventry Rape & Sexual Abuse Centre (CRASAC) from the profits of the jerseys.

CRASAC supports people in Coventry who have been affected by sexual abuse and have expertise in some of the specific fears and pressures which may be experienced by Black, Asian, Minority and Refugee communities and provide an impartial, non-judgmental space for LGBTQ survivors.

The charity recognise that everyone is an individual who should be able to describe their sexual orientation and gender identity in their own way – safe from judgement, prejudice or discrimination.

EIHL Pride Week

It will be the fourth season that Elite League has been able to celebrate pride across all ten arenas, with the first Pride Weekend taking place in 2019/20.

EIHL Media & Communications Manager Luke Fisher said,

“Our fans showed us at the Playoff Finals Weekend back in 2019 how important it is to them that our sport celebrates inclusion and diversity, which led to our first Pride Weekend in 2020. We made a very clear commitment then that we wanted to promote the message that ice hockey is a safe space for LGBTQ+ athletes and fans alike, and we have been proud to continue celebrating this message.”

“Every time we organise our Pride event, both ourselves and our partners are blown away by how much our fans support this initiative. We hope Pride 2024 will continue to show just how importantly our fans value this message in the sport of ice hockey”.
