The DPD Coventry Blaze are pleased to confirm the signing of Canadian forward Ryan Richardson for the 2026/27 Motorpoint Elite League season.
Richardson joins the Blaze from the Greensboro Gargoyles of the ECHL, where he played 61 games, scoring 12 goals and adding six assists for 18 points.
Prior to turning professional, Richardson spent four seasons at Clarkson University between 2021 and 2025. During that time, he appeared in 147 games, recording 26 goals and 53 assists for 79 points.
In his senior season (2024/25), Richardson was named team captain and enjoyed the most productive campaign of his NCAA career, posting 11 goals and 19 assists for 30 points in 38 games.
Richardson was also honoured as just the third Golden Knight to wear No. 6, a number awarded in honour of former Clarkson captain Mike Morrison to players who exemplify outstanding work ethic and leadership on and off the ice.
During his time in the NCAA, Richardson also earned ECAC All-Academic Team honours in each of his three eligible seasons.
Before arriving at Clarkson, Richardson spent the majority of his junior career with the Smiths Falls Bears (CCHL), alongside a season with the Fargo Force (USHL), before beginning his collegiate career in 2021.
Head Coach Kevin Moore commented: “Ryan is a skilled forward who is ready to unlock his full potential as a professional. He has the ability to score from the high slot with a quick release, plays the right way in the defensive zone, and is a high-character individual. Ryan is a great fit for our style of play and culture, and we’re excited to have him with us this season.”
