Gray departs Blaze

American netminder Cam Gray has informed the Genting Casino Coventry Blaze of his decision to depart the club and return home due to family reasons.

Gray, 28, iced for the club in two pre-season games which included a 6-2 victory over Kyiv Capitals.

Gray moved to the UK following two seasons in the ECHL with Indy Fuel, during which he also earned a try-out with the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs and spent time in the SPHL with Macon Mayhem.

Before turning professional, Gray was a stand-out at Adrian College (NCAA III) and led the Bulldogs to the program’s first National Championship in 2022.

While we are disappointed to lose Cam, we understand and respect his decision and wish him all the very best for the future.

Head Coach Kevin Moore said, “I would like to thank Cam for his commitment to the Blaze the last few weeks. Cam is someone who I have coached on three different teams and is one of my all time favourite people and he will be missed. I wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavours.”

Gray commented, “I would like to thank Kevin Moore and the Coventry Blaze for giving me the opportunity to be part of such a storied organisation. After careful consideration, I’ve decided that being back at home is the best decision for me and my family at this time. I wish the team nothing but the best this season.”
