Hopkins back for fourth year

The Genting Casino Coventry Blaze are pleased to confirm the return of British forward Jack Hopkins for the 2026/27 Elite League season.

During his third season in Coventry, Hopkins recorded 21 points (five goals, 16 assists) in 66 Elite League games.

His performances earned him the club’s British Player of the Season award, as voted for by the fans, for a second consecutive year. He was also named the Elite League Young British Player of the Year for the second straight season.

In 2024/25, Hopkins enjoyed a strong campaign, appearing in all 66 Elite League games and contributing 16 points (five goals, 11 assists). His work ethic and consistency continued to make him an important part of the Blaze line-up.

Hopkins originally joined the Blaze ahead of the 2023/24 season from the Nottingham Panthers, having previously spent two seasons on two-way deals with the Telford Tigers and Milton Keynes Lightning.

A proven offensive contributor in the NIHL, Hopkins nearly produced a point per game, registering 56 points (22 goals, 34 assists) in 58 appearances. He played a key role in helping Telford secure the NIHL Championship during the 2021/22 season.

This past summer, Hopkins made his senior World Championship debut with Great Britain in Switzerland, competing against some of the world’s top players on the international stage.

Having previously represented Great Britain at both Under-18 and Under-20 level, Hopkins enjoyed a successful junior international career, helping the national team secure one silver and two bronze medals at the IIHF World Junior Championships (Division IIA). His progression was further recognised through selection to the GB “Next Gen” programme ahead of the 2025 IIHF World Championship, where he trained alongside the senior national squad before earning his first World Championship appearance in 2026.

Head Coach, Kevin Moore commented “Jack is a player who has shown immense growth during his time with the Blaze, particularly in his commitment to the defensive details of the game. His exceptional work ethic and offensive playmaking ability allow us to use him in all phases of the game, firmly establishing him as one of the best young players in the UK. We are thrilled to have Jack back in Coventry for another season.”
