The DPD Coventry Blaze are thrilled to announce the signing of Finnish netminder Sisu Heikkeri for the 2026/27 Elite League season.

Heikkeri, 22, joins the Blaze from Jokerit of Mestis, where the highly-rated goaltender has spent the past two seasons. During that time, he also earned a call-up to Jukurit in Liiga, appearing in three games and posting an impressive .924 save percentage (SVS%) and 2.15 goals-against average (GAA).

In 12 appearances for Jokerit last season, the 6-foot netminder recorded a .879 SVS% and 2.48 GAA. That campaign followed a standout rookie professional season in 2024/25, when he led Mestis with a .926 SVS% and 1.38 GAA across 32 regular-season appearances, including nine shutouts.

His outstanding form continued into the playoffs, where he posted a .908 SVS% and 1.72 GAA in 10 games, helping guide Jokerit to the Mestis Championship.

Following that remarkable season, Heikkeri was named Mestis Goaltender of the Year and earned a place on the league’s First All-Star Team.

Heikkeri also enjoyed considerable success at junior level with Jokerit. In 2021/22, he won a silver medal in the Under-18 SM-sarja, before repeating the achievement with the club’s Under-20 side in 2022/23.

Head Coach Kevin Moore said, “We are thrilled to add Sisu to our group. He is a goaltender with an outstanding pedigree, and his availability from one of Europe’s top clubs, Jokerit, presented a unique opportunity for us to bring in a player of his quality.

On the ice, his technical foundation is incredibly sound. He tracks the puck exceptionally well through traffic and uses his frame effectively to play big in tight situations. He has a high compete level and simply does not quit on pucks. He will be a tremendous asset to our club, and we are excited to welcome Sisu to Coventry.

Heikkeri will wear #30 for the Blaze.
